What is patient_bill_passthrough?

patient_bill_passthrough means that the patient will be billed directly, but the billing process is handled through Junction’s system. While the patient experience is the same as "client_bill," this method exists due to BioReference’s legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring transparency in lab testing costs.

What is patient_bill?

patient_bill refers to cases where the patient goes directly to the lab and pays the lab’s list pricing. The lab bills the patient directly at standard rates, and Junction is not involved in the billing process.

What is client_bill?

client_bill means that the healthcare provider or organization using Junction's services will be billed for the lab test, rather than the patient. There is no difference in patient experience compared to patient_bill_passthrough - the patient still does not pay directly. However, this distinction is in place due to BioReference’s regulatory requirements.

What is commercial insurance?

commercial_insurance means that the patient’s health insurance provider is billed for the lab test. The insurance company covers the costs based on the patient’s plan, and the patient may have out-of-pocket expenses depending on their coverage.
